  47. "Animaniacs" is a cartoon from Steven Spielberg/Amblin Entertainment,
  48.     Warner Brothers and Fox Television, the same group that brought you 
  49.     "Tiny Toon Adventures". Many of the people that worked on TTA 
  50.     (Sherri Stoner, Tom Ruegger, Tress MacNeille, etc.) are working on
  51.     Animaniacs.
  52.  
  53. Animaniacs first aired on Monday, Sept 13th 1993 on Fox in what used to be 
  54.     the TTA time-slot.  A full season of 65 episodes (none have yet been lost
  55.     to the BS&P) is in the process of being aired on Fox television and its
  56.     afiliated stations. Five of these episodes are not going to air until
  57.     May.

  64. The last "official" FTP site for Animaniacs images, garfield.catt.ncsu.edu
  65.     has had a few changes. Firstly, garfield is no longer an FTP server.
  66.     The new server is ftp.catt.ncsu.edu, but alas, the Animaniacs images
  67.     did not survive the transition. Many of them were screen captures, and
  68.     as the .message says:

  72.     Screen captures are considered copyrighted material and because permission
  73.     to distribute these images has not been granted, distribution of such

  419. Reasons:
  420.    - It is printed as "pay or play" in the CD booklet.
  421.    - Sally Smith spoke with a director who said it was "or"
  422.    - A "pay or play" contract is a real thing. Such a contract means that
  423.      the holder will get paid wether or not their part is shown (in Hollywood)
  424.      or that the player will get paid even if they are not played (in
  425.      Football). Logically, it should be a "pay even without play" contract,
  426.      but it isn't.

  428. "Chicken Boo" -- "You wear a disguise to look like human guys"
  429.                                  vs. "...look like human guise"
  430.  
  431. Reasons:
  432.    - "guys" makes sense: Chicken Boo is disguising himself as a person.
  433.    - "guise" is not correct syntactically, or even logically.

  461. Cold Opener: A short animated sequence _before_ the opening song. For example,
  462.              the `Flipper' parody.

  464. End Tag:     The closing or parting shot of the water tower and lines. This
  465.              is the same as the "That's all folks!" from the Looney Tunes
  466.              shows.

  468. Wacky Sack:  Wakko's incredible omnipresent all inclusive prop bag.  Also
  469.              called a "Gag Bag" by Yakko.

  471. Wraparounds: Short segments placed between shorts and advertising.

  473. Local Terminology:

  476. The Variable Verse: The line in the theme song which changes.
  477.                     (e.g. "How Urbaney", "Here's the show's namey")

  479. Filler:      Used to describe The Newsreel of the Stars and any other
  480.              piece of animation not listed in the sacred AFEL and assumed
  481.              to be put in the show to kill time.

  616. The Warners are not to be confused with the Two Tones.  Here's a few
  617.      reasons if you still have any doubts:

  621.    * are not a recognizable species
  622.    * have distinct ears and non-bushy tails
  623.    * wear coloured clothing
  624.    * are not black and white (Warners have red noses!)
  625.    * are zany

  628.  The Two Tones (Foxy & Roxy):
  629.    * Live in Two Tone Town, a suburb of Acme Acres
  630.    * are foxes
  631.    * have fox-like ears
  632.    * were "drawn in shades of gray"

  636. The Warners do not fall into any general species category.  They are not dogs,
  637.    cats, llamas, puppy-children, or even skunks. A complicated explanation is
  638.    that they are styled after the 1930's characters which were not meant to
  639.    be any species at all, only a humanized `inkblot' of sorts.  If you want
  640.    the simple explanation, they're Warners (or just plain cute). One thing's
  641.    for sure: the Warners are very good at irritating people in the show.

  643. Animaniacs, unlike the Tiny Toon Adventures episode of a similar name, does
  644.     NOT end with an exclamation point (!).  Animaniacs is in no obvious way 
  645.     related to "Animaniacs!".
